Default Hello from N.Ireland

Hi guys,

Some of the guys from Muscletalk pointed me in this direction to check it out, seems a cool place.

I am an instrcutor in Urban Krav Maga and co - run a gym called Israeli Fighting Systems Northern Ireland.

www.ifsni.com

From the gym we grade in urban krav maga and also have an MMA fight team.

We run a new MMA promotion in Ireland called Clan Wars which is sanctioned by the ISKA, next event for that is in August. We have alot of freinds from England, Scotland and Wales and hope to bring them over for some of the events.

www.clanwarspromotions.com

Anyhow glad to be onboard and look forward to learning and sharing with you all!

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul , welcome to the forum!

We're quite a young forum but we're enthusiastic to be talking about MMA!

I get alot of the MMA & UFC News quite quickly and usually post up on the MMA News & Predictions - MMA Forums - MMA Fight Talk section as soon as!

Is the MMA Scene in NI just as popular as England?

Cheers
Matt

Hi Matt,

Yea MMA has really started to take off very quickly, saying that there are alot of well established gyms though from N.Ireland who fight quite a bit in the UK, those guys have been round for some time now.

My own gym started as an Urban Krav Maga club and started a beginner fight team as when you take away the banned moves from Krav Maga you more or less have the same techniques used in MMA. Our sparring was vitrually the same although we would use alot of eye and groin strikes etc when training for the street.

With the Clan Wars promotion we are running now with the cheap easy jet and flybe flights to bring more guys from England,Scotland and Wales over to compete in the event.

Hi mate,

We are based in Antrim as it is more or less central in N.Ireland as you know - We are the only UKM club in Ireland so have guys from all over the north drive to the club,we have guys from up around Derry on one side and guys from newry etc on the other so keeping the club in the middle was the best choice.

Most guys are from the belfast area though

Good stuff.

I train at Chum Sut (Newcastle). Our main gym is in Lisburn, the head trainer is Tom Lamonte.

I've been looking onto Krav Mega recently....is it basically reality based self defense?
